3/12/2012- Progress Reports,

Posted by siglamy on March 12, 2012 at 1:40 PM

I appologize to all of my clients for the huge delay on updates. We have 7 horses we are covering now so it has been very busy.

Rowan- B- Coming along. No more buck. You have to get him a bit sweaty to get him away from the farm, but he is finally learning to respond to the bit when he is nervous. I don't think I will  be able to get him sold for his asking price though.

Scoop- A- We took Scoop on her first trail ride yesterday with other horses, she did great. She started this new habit of trying to walk off when I get on. Don't know where it came from because I never allow the horses to move while I'm mounting so they never know that they can. Other than that she was good. She dosn't like stopping when the other horses are still going but she will do it.

Taffy- C- Taffy is taking forever in long lines. She likes to rear up, kick, and doesn't like the bit at all. But the last thing i need to to get flipped on, so we are keeping her in long lines until she shows a better attitude.

Gypsy- C- Considering how severely she was abused she is making decent progress. She will now let me touch her all over. We are working on her feet. When she is more comfortable being touched then we will introduce the saddle.

Solo- C- Solo is what I call Kirks filly. She is pretty good under saddle, as far as taking the weight, turning, stopping, and backing, but she is LAZY> you have to kick and whip and spur to get her to take a step or two then start all over again. lol. Pretty exhausting. Other than that she is a good minded, mellow filly. She should make an excellent ranch horse.

Rose- B- We got Rose's feet trimmed up and got her all brushed up pretty. We took her for her first ride of the year and she did great. She needs alot of work on her ears. Brad thinks shes ear shy because she has sunburnt. It makes her tricky to bridle. But it is possible with consistancy and time.

Star- B- We took Star on his first ride of the year and he did great. He has a TON OF GO! He can walk faster than most of our horses trot. He neck reins and stops well, but I do not recomend him to ride with a slow horse or you will be stopping and waiting every ten seconds and he will start to get a little hard headed after 10 or 15 times within 10 minutes. lol. He is fun to ride, but would be more fun by himself or with another quick horse.
