Hello everyone,
I am sorry I have not been posting updates on horses very well. It has been crazy busy around here. I had to go to Oregon for a couple days because I found out my GPa has cancer, :(, and the horses got bored and destroyed my pen!!!
Bastards.
Anyways, sold Baby today, and a colt.. Hopefully selling Rowan tomorrow, and Star on Sunday. But we will see! lol.
Rowan was an ASS today! I was not happy with him!!! It was the first time he had bucked with me in months!! Needless to say, he will not be doing that again. He got worked until every square inch of his body was dripping sweat. I was quite dissapointed in him, He was doing so well and 3 days off and he turns into a monster.
Taffy did great today.
She is completely mellow and comfortable with the saddle now. She has a good stop on her but she does not like to stay stopped. She does ok in the trot but if I post the trot or bounce she gets pissy. She is a very moody filly. lol. She is getting very good in the trailer though. Thank god.
Well, I am like falling asleep on my keyboard, and I have to get up early and basically rebuild the pen the horses have destroyed!! So TTFN!
And now, for your viewing pleasure, Another poem! lol. I called this one, God Take Me When I Can't Ride. I wrote it when I very first started training horses, but even before that, I was in the saddle all day, every day(I had alot of time to come up with my poetry, lol.). ![]()
I sometimes wonder, when I'm atop my ole horse
How many critters I've got ridden
How many horses I've bought n sold
And how much time that I put in em
Since I could walk, I've taken the reins
Since I was able, I've saddled my own
I rarely held on to the horn
And never now that I've grown
I've been bucked off, bit, and kicked
Far too many times to even say
I've been laid up to bed many times
But couldn't rest more than a day
I can not leave my saddle cold
Unless I decide to ride without
I don't need a whip for some giddy up
And I ain't got a reason to shout
We've buried many good horses
But we've had born a few good colts
I've traded off some finished rides
So I could have another to get broke
I've taken in fresh ones for others
And send em back home ready to ride
I've dealt with some mean and cruel souls
And brought out their best side
Without a horse I am nothing
Cause all I know is riding mounts
My only talent shows every time I ride
And to me that's all that counts
I count my horses among my friends
I talk to them like I would to a man
Me n them have a strong bond
Most folk just wont understand
And if there be another man like me
If you make your livin breakin hide
God bless your soul and your broken body
God please take us when we can't ride
